RMweb Gold Re6/6 Posted December 8, 2011 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 8, 2011 I acquired this as a part for a scratch project but can anybody identify the manufacturer of this for me please? I assume that it's from a class 40/44/45. Thanks.
'CHARD
Looks like a Jouef 40 to me...
frobisher
It's either a kit part or from a Joeff Class 40 I would say (not familiar with either, but it's defintely not from the Mainline class 45). Is the coupling bar detachable, as I believe Joeff supplied a choice of couplings to fit?
naugytrax
Definitely a Jouef Class 40. I have one in pieces on the workbanch as I write ...

34theletterbetweenB&D
If you seriously intend using it, beware the fall-off worm trick. Giving the motor shaft a good wallop using a very hard drift to put a crude spline on it kept the worm in place. I was a ltittle concerned that I might bend the motor shaft, but if this occurred there was no ill effect. Noisy before the mod. equally noisy after. But thereafter the worm stayed put. RMweb Gold Re6/6 Posted December 9, 2011 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted December 9, 2011 Thanks all. I'd never seen these particular ones before. There will be no problems for the project as I'll only be needing the sideframes, as I'll be building the drive train myself.
