On my list of buys from warley was for a large tree to act as a scenic break where the track  goes into the storage yard after the viaduct

I found a 9  in sycamore from "Model Trees"

This afternoon I have removed the plastic base, added a lot more flock after spraying with ladies hairspray and then screwed it down to the baseboard

Finished off several Warley Purchases

post-254-0-22550500-1543859710_thumb.jpg

First farm worker having his break on  the Farm tractor and trailer. I'm keeping my eyes out for other figures whilst making a conscious decision to avoid the Pendon farm workers, since they will be appearing on every layout. This one was from Dart Castings

I was originally going to put the farmer's cart here which I brought at Warley  but it didn't look right, so I moved the Austin 7 from outside the pub to here and put the wagon into the barn, where both  looks just right, and the Cart barn is now full.

Next up another figure from Dart Castings for the shops. Will be adding a lot more in the future, since the street is a bit empty at the moment, but been concentrating on finishing other areas.

Added an interior to the mess hall complete with one worker and toned down the lighting. The brick work  has received a coat of paint to blend in with the other buildings

Added 2 more yard lights and they  are in the process of being painted

I only managed to add a transfer to the front board, the one's for the sides beat me totally.

Made a start on the Station Canopy

Realised that I could use the Laser cut parts from the Metcalfe from their

PO239 00/H0 SCALE STONE BUILT WAYSIDE STATION SHELTER

They kindly sold me 2 sheets on their own

First thing was to stick the canopy brackets to a section of plastic I beam

Then I fixed them to the station building, fortunately there was a existing layer of raised bricks which made a convenient mounting point

The roof was then mounted on these

The Metcalfe awning was mounted on some plasticard and then stuck around the border.

Given a first coat of paint to see how it looks.

Still needs some plastic moulding adding and the the roof covered with masking task to simulate roofing felt and then painted, but pleased with progress so far

Made a start upgrading Airfix Autocoach

Interior painted and passengers added.

post-254-0-42561600-1545497872_thumb.jpg

Won't bother with dart castings upgrade, it good enough as it is for me. However will remove the spare coupling.

Giving serious consideration to adding lighting.

As far as I can see there are 2 routes

a. Battery power, . I want a method I can use for all my other coaches not so not too keen on having to take them apart to change battery

b. Pickups, best method I can see if replacing these wheel sets with the DCC concepts one's with the pickup up spring included. Also a pack  will give me enough wheels to do the B set

Still exploring what lights to use. I want to be able to turn the lights off in the storage loops, or else it's going to look like Blackpool illuminations, I already have this problem with Hornby Pullman's. Trouble is it gets expensive putting a decoder in each coach. Best method I've seen so far is the ESU coach lighting strips.

Thanks for posting the video, whilst I was watching it I had an inspiration. If you use the Dcc concepts wheels with the fitted pickups for power.(I don't like the use of batteries because of their limited life) Instead of fitting a separate dcc decoder to switch the lights why not use latching relay?

Need to do a bit more research, so watch this space.

Only just unpacked the wagons and agree about weathering.

Decided that the station approach by the signal box was looking very dated (8 years old)

So I have redone with static grass, more woodland scenic clumps, added noch leaves to the tree and added a plastic strip along the whole length of the back board to pull it all together.
