HSB
I've been able to glue the rear wall to one of the side walls at last along with the ground floor. The other walls have been temporarily pushed into place:-
HSB
I've now glued on the front and put some more floors inside. These are mainly there so the windows on one floor can't be seen when looking through the windows on the floor above. I am using some bits of wood to straighten them out once they're in place although they will hardly be seen when the other side is glued on.
HSB
Almost a month since our last post and little activity on the layout apart from making up a few bits to go inside the Brewery. These will just be vague shapes when seen through the windows. We haven't actually done anything in Rod's shed for a couple of weeks although Rod and I were invited over to Zobland last Friday for a play. I've just come back from a very pleasant few days in Wales which included a trip on the Vale of Rheidol and a ride on Aberystwyth Cliff Railway. I was hoping to see the VoR's Beyer Garrat but couldn't see any sign of it! Edited June 23, 2023 by HSB
HSB
"The train now standing ON Platform One is......" TT120! Having discovered that what Hornby have been advertising as BCKs are actually BSKs I have bought this BSK-CK-BSK rake for a possible future project. We had a session on Ramchester this afternoon with both of us still making bits to go inside the brewery. Hopefully I'll be able to glue the fourth side in place later this week.
HSB
Still making bits to go inside but we're nearly there. We've basically used bits and pieces we had to hand to make things which look vaguely like the sort of things found in a brewery. I have found several diagrams of the brewing process and the illustrations of the various bits of equipment are different in every one! I think, once the side is on, only a really dedicated brewery geek will be able to tell if it's right or wrong 🙂.

Dave No point in worrying about staircases as they simply wouldn't be seen. I wasted time putting some steps just inside the entrance which can't now be seen. Having decided we had put enough bits inside where they will show through the windows I have finally stuck the fourth side in place. I hope to start on the main roof tomorrow. railwayrod
Howard's input into the brewery has been excellent and his workmanship has been first class. I am honored that he has used his talents to create such a masterpiece for my layout. He still has the main roof to build and a few oddments to complete but already the model is simply brilliant. Thank you Howard. Rod
railwayrod
Glancing back at some of the recent posts I realized that I failed to put some photos on from the visit of Peter C who came down with his latest acquisition a while ago. He had a Lenz model of the DB class 55 together with a breakdown crane. Not only does the loco have full DCC sound but also emits realistic smoke. My photo does not really do the smoke justice but it should convey the idea. The breakdown crane was also fully digitally controlled as he demonstrated to us. What a lovely piece of kit this is. Here are a couple of photos to illustrate the event. To press the shutter at the exact time that smoke was "chuffed" proved to be a bit of a challenge and took several attempts before I managed this. Thank you Peter for bringing these fantastic models down to Ramchester to show me. Rod 8
HSB
The basic roof is now in place on the brewery! Here are a couple of shots from the back which will not normally be seen. Edited July 21, 2023 by HSB
HSB
Nothing was done on the layout last week as I was away on holiday but this week I have fitted some barge and fascia boards to the brewery roof and today attached some guttering made from Modelu parts. I forgot to pick up my phone when I went round this afternoon so was unable to take a picture but instead here are some pics I took last week on the Swanage Railway.

HSB
I added another thin layer of card to the roof this afternoon. Here it is prior to painting the gutters, barge boards and fascias.
HSB
A little bit more progress with the slates (from York Modelmaking) now stuck on the front part of the main roof. 8
HSB
The slates on the rear of the main roof are now all in place and I'm now working on the ridge tiles. 10

HSB
The main downpipe on the front is now painted and in place with the final one for the rear under construction. The ridge tiles now just need tidying up and painting before they can be glued on and then we'll have to decide on the design for the high-level unloading platform. We won't be doing anything next week as Rod is having visitors. 11
HSB
The last downpipes and ridge tiles have now been painted and glued on. The loading dock has also now been glued in position. The next job will be to decide on the design of the high-level unloading dock above it. 7
Simond
I have seen arrangements like this (maybe Liverpool docks?) where an intermediate floor had fold - out side guard rails and a sort of drawbridge that could fold down once the load had been hauled above it. You could model this closed in the door recess, I guess?
HSB
Several weeks since we last posted something but things are slowly progressing and to prove it here's the high-level unloading dock taking shape.

HSB
No work on the layout for a couple of weeks or so (mainly due to Rod having a chest infection) but he invited a few of our modelling friends round for an operating session this afternoon. One brought along this class 45 for a run:- And here is our friend and fellow RMWebber Brian Harrap having a shunt:-
Brian Harrap
Such a delight to operate Ramchester, everything runs so smoothly and the vast expanse of the station area makes it feel like you are at a real place - quite a walk up and down to see to the uncoupling etc when shunting, I'll take my bike another time.
