The problem is that although I am there every year I never get to see much of the show as we are busy on the EDM Models stand and this year there's more to see! We'll be leaving Derby about 5.00am and return by 10.00pm if we are lucky - then Paul has to carry on to York - it makes it one heck of a long day - Phil Traxson of Port Wynnstay has the same journey as well

Well after a few days rest it's back to Model Railways this time as a operator of Cwmfelinfach at Shepton Mallet a layout built by the chairman of Stafford Railway Circle

I am looking forward to a day playing trains and not worrying about all the the things exhibition managers worry about

Come and have a chat

Terry

I look forward to this event with unalloyed pleasure- great day out.

DLT needs to be prepared to repel boarders*.

Tim

*Dave, I will be bringing some the naughtier bits of 02 with me - enjoy.

I'll look out for you Tim, I will be there as a visitor, I'm not exhibiting.

Cheers,

Dave.

Is there a list of the 29 traders anywhere to be found?

I'm having to make my mind up between this show, Watford, Tonbridge or Risex ... Reading, Milton Keynes, Warminster ... Yenston - all eight brilliantly coordinated to be on the same day and within the same travel/value range. SWMBO is threatening to male my mind up for me, then there is the similar threat of another cold snap.

Their web site doesn't get updated very often and the header here says 'Traders usually in attendance'

Sorry about the formatting - it was in a table and seems to have all gone to the left hand side. Hope you can still read it OK - I'll be there helping Paul Martin with EDM - 5.00am start from Derby

Mike, Thanks for putting that up - now all I have to do is talk her indoors into sharing the driving.

I hope you make it OK - at least a fair bit of your journey is on the motorway - of course there's no guarantee that any of those mentioned will actually be there as I think the same list has been on their web site for several years but then again the traders have been the same for several years as well - except we all get older. We expect to be in our usual place nearest to the tea bar and cake sales!!

Got back from a very good show today. Very busy, certainly in the half a dozen classrooms, but quieter later in the day.

A good selection of narrow gauge layouts in all popular scales / gauges.

Attached are a few photos of some of the layouts.

Phew what a trek! A combination of traffic and miserable weather seemed to conspire against me. Then not knowing the show surroundings I let myself be directed to an overflow car park by the cider mill. Not knowing there was a convenient shuttle bus laid on I had an unpleasant long walk to the school only to find plenty of space there and on the streets nearby.

But the show was worth it. Plenty of lovely little layouts and a few quite impressive ones. A bit too crowded but I guess that was a combination of using classrooms, only one door in and out (why do folk stand in the doorway nattering?), and the layout of the expo. It was impossible to get past the canteen to the hall with the catering queue being so long.

A good show but I'm not sure if I would make the journey again next year (especially with the date clash). Missed the wider range of layouts and better (for me) trade at Watford.

But this was my NG fix for the year, even if it generally means being overwhelmed by resin :)

My favourite layout The exchange siding with OO along the back and a very busy gravel / sand pit to front - I think it was Barrowfleet - in the hall.

I was called in at the last minute to demonstrate on the 2mm narrow gauge stand and had a very enjoyable day, along with Phil Coppleston, nattering away to all and sundry. I didn't have any narrow gauge stock but took some of my light railway stuff along which was in the spirit of the occasion and seemed to go down well.

The only problem I had was a complete innability to resist the cakes!! A cracking day out and highly reccomended.

A few more pics from my ambling around. A superb show and very crowded in the morning and early afternoon. I felt a bit sorry for one or two small layouts by the doors into the classrooms as no-one could stand and watch without blocking the doorway. The refreshments area was very good and they were banned on friday evening from moving any of the tables which is why so much ended up in the classrooms so the crowding wasn't really their fault. I know Mike said EDM actually did better being stuck in the corridor than their normal place next ot the cakes. I made the fotunate mistake of having a cuppa just as they started 2 for 1 on cakes! Yum :boast:
