Bachmann short 12 ton Cattle Vans

I'm sure this has come up somewhere previously, but I can't locate it.

So . . . can anyone tell me whether the older Bachmann Cattle Van model (starting at 37-700) was an accurate or nearly accurate model of an LMS or Midland Railway cattle van? If so, did any last into BR days? (My gut feel is that is is totally fictional).

Thank you, and apologies if I've stepped out of line, Mods.

It's too short. They made it to fit on their standard 10' chassis but it really should be longer (11' wheelbase?)

Ironic that their newer BR cattle vans are a scale foot too long....

Thanks Mod6, perhaps it was because I did the wrong kind of search: I've just found out I have to set the search box to 'Forums' otherwise it just searches the forum I'm on.

Ah, default settings; almost by definition, they are designed to present the least useful option :mad_mini:

The Bachmann model isn't very good, but David Geen does a nice whitemetal kit for one of the LMS diagrams, and Slaters do a kit for the Midland one. Quite a lot of the LMS ones, and some of the Midland, lasted into BR days. There are some pics in one of Geoff Kent's 4mm wagon books (Vol.2?) and in one of Essery's LMS wagon books.
