Rails are already offering them at £125. (pre-order)

The feared hike in price (compared to the 201) looks like it isn't going to happen.

PS The Rails site has the liveries cocked up - several are described as in the black livery that are actually going to be orange.

The highly anticipated Murphys 071/111 class models were formally launched yesterday at the MRSI show in Raheny, north Dublin. First releases are 112 in NIR Blue after its loan to IE, 071 and 082 in IE Freight livery of black and Silver. I picked up 112 and 071. Some pics to whet the appetite;

These should be available from British retailers within the next 10 days or so. I do think the IE logo on the side of the freight locos are too large, and there are a couple orange details missing from 112 for this period (fan mounting, horns) but overall they're nice, heavy superb renditions of the much loved prototypes.

Any questions, just shout.

Here's a real picture of 112 after its return from Irish Rail with the orange details visible.

Mice pic, I have looked at some images of 112 over this period and it seems the Murphy model is correct for the early part of its career with IE. Happy days.

Interesting one Colin, the lamp bracket is in the wrong place too.

It's obviously been produced as principally an 071 rather than a 111. The little electrical box on the lower left of the cab front is missing as well as the misplaced brackets.

ps just noticed that in my phots, 111 and 113 have the same brackets as an 071, 112 seems to be the odd man out.

Finally got my mitts on 073 and 080 after Parcels Force dropped them off at my local post office without telling me!!

Both look superb and run like a dream, as all Murphy locos seem to.

I understand that they are made in the same factory as Bachmann locos, so why do they run so much better out of the box???

Don't get me wrong, Bachmanns run well, but are often noisier in one direction than the other.  All my Murphys locos (9x141/181, 1x201, 3x071) purred along sweetly both ways straight out of the box with no running in at all.

Currently agonising over whether to buy 078 or wait for 077.  (or buy both)

Hattons are showing the proposed limited edition No 111, "Great Northern" in NIR original light blue.  My pre order was placed yesterday evening.

My Lima Mk 2b coaches are ready for re wheeling, reglazing and painting, and I have MIR paint & transfers and also etched brass coach sides for dining car 547.  One 1980's Enterpricse set coming up :-)

IE are in cahoots with Paddy to sell more 071s.....

The refurbished 071s with new body panels are to have a new variation - slate grey livery it seems.  And continental style numbers. 077 has already been done.

Succumbed at the weekend and bought 078 from Charlie at Thornbury.
