6959
As recommended in a previous post, I have tracked down a copy of Keith Parkin's MK1 coach book and supplement but it may be a while before I get them which will hold up progress. Also, I have ditched my Lima and Hornby BR MK1 coaches and bought all the available Bachmann MK1s in red and cream that have Western Region running numbers. Viz: BG W80705 BSK W34139 FK W13065 SK W24746 [TK until June 1956] SO W 3789 RFO W8 RU W1900 Hopefully, any further batches of these from Bachmann, particularly BSK and SK, will have different running numbers. Bachmann also do the following coaches with Midland or Eastern running numbers which could be renumbered if I knew the 'W' numbers that were out-shopped in red and cream: BCK CK W150xx [crib numbers from Hornby CK?] Replica Railways make a Restaurant Buffet but this is too late for blood and custard on WR. i.e.. Replica Railways 12104 is chocolate & cream The remaining MK1 types are more obscure and are a long shot but it would help if I knew if any of these were built in red and cream era and allocated to Western Region. Else I can knock them off the list. BFK [see later post] BSO I have lived near lines that were GWR/ LMS joint so I can find an excuse to run red and cream MK1s with 'M' or 'E' prefix if there was no WR allocation. Thanks in advance. Edited for accuracy.

Karhedron
Replica Railways make a Restaurant Buffet but this may be too late for blood and custard. RB e.g. Replica Railways 12104 is chocolate & cream The WR did not receive Mk1 catering vehicles until comparitively late and continued with ex-GWR designs. I believe that at least a couple of ex-GWR catering vehicles were repainted into WR choc-n-cream in the late 50s. It might have been an H39/H40 pair for the Cornish Riviera Express but I would have to look it up to be sure.
Andy M
I believe that at least a couple of ex-GWR catering vehicles were repainted into WR choc-n-cream in the late 50s. It was about 30 vehicles of a dozen or more diagrams. I compiled a list a few years back that I could dig out if anyone is interested. Andy.

Andy M
As requested here is my list of former Great Western catering vehicles that carried chocolate & cream livery in BR days. I by no means claim this compilation to be definative and would welcome any extra observations. H.13 - 9524 H.15 - 9543 H.16 - 9550 H.19 - 9553 H.24 - 9557, 9560 H.25 - 9563 H.26 - 9571 H.29 - 9574, 9575, 9576 H.36 - 9586, 9587 H.39 - 9614, 9615, 9617, 9618, 9619 H.40 - 9621, 9622, 9623, 9624, 9625, 9627 H.54 - 9663, 9667 H.55 - 9677, 9678 H.57 - 9672, 9673 Maybe this list would be better suited in the GW Coaches thread, but as it has fallen out of the OP's original discussion on BR(W) coaches I'll post it here. Regards, Andy.
Il Grifone
Crimson and cream was used up to the start of the regional liveries, so coaches built up to about late 1956 would be OK. After that date Western Region coaches would have been maroon or chocolate and cream. The change over roughly coincided with the change (in name only) from third to second class. If I can find my abc, I could give you running numbers. It only gives lot numbers, so actual build date is uncertain.
Adrian Wintle
Remember too that trains originating outside the WR might have coaches from different regions on them, so there is no need to have all your coaches with WR numbers even if you are deep in WR territory.
