rob D2
As my new plank is to include a representation of an oil terminal based loosely on the above, i wonder if I may ask some questions 1.Trains were mainly TEAs, appear to be black liveried in winter, grey in summer (heating oil/petrol ?), would the latest Bachmann Black BP TEA cut it ? the ends looka bit conical for normal oil trains ? i guess some of the markings may be a bit modern for my period (1982 ish). However eventually the whole thing would be covered in 'filth 'anyway. 2.workings - around my period it appears the predominance was class 33 (mainly 33/2 ?) from grain.there are also reports of 47s (from wales), pairs of 31s (immingham) and even class 40s (stanlow ?). Mid 80s it appears to be stratford 47s, then of course the dedicated 37/7s in sectorisation. 3.Oil tank storage - i need some big tanks to be cut up as low relief ish (half) i think some of the euro manufacturers do some. Do the big tanks need a 'bund' ? I don't think they did If anybody has any other gen it would be appreciated.
lmsforever
I once saw a 47 on a gleaming train of green tanks in Princes Risborough station it had come off the Thame branch this was in the 1970,s might have been a publicity photo shoot somewhere along the branch.
