Ben04uk
Although the Hornby versions of 6-wheel milk tankers have quite detailed lettering on the solebar, all the Dapol (OO scale) versions of milk wagons have no lettering at all on the solebar which detracts from the detail and appearance of the wagon. I can't seem to find any at the usual suspects - Fox Transfers, Model Master Decals, etc which do not appear to do any suitable decals for 6-wheel milk tankers - does anyone have any suggestions? buffalo
...does anyone have any suggestions? You could weather the Hornby ones to look more like the prototype in service Nick
RMweb Gold gwrrob Posted April 24, 2012 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 24, 2012 I think the lettering was omitted due to the plastic used on the solebar and lack of adhesion for transfers.I think you'll struggle to find suitable ones but maybe POWsides might be able to help. You are correct in saying that this detracts from their appearance.
RMweb Premium ELTEL Posted April 24, 2012 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 24, 2012 No I could not find any suitable transfer so have not purchased any Dapol tankers On the same wagon subject. Do the Dapol wagons have a NEM socket? Are the couplings the same height, so either Kadee or Tension lock match up. Hornby milk tankers are like hens teeth, the good news is that Hornby are re releasing them 4th qtr 2012 Regards Eltel
craigwelsh
Removing the brakes from the middle axle helps too though the market could do with a proper accurate 21C attempt at a milk tank really.
craigwelsh
You don't say what period you are modelling which would affect what was on the solebar.(sorry for the 2nd post, the editor is broken.. I've worked that bit out now )
