sunshine coast
Many years ago ...mmm? about 15+ I think,I was one of the builders for a customer of the original layout . This 8'x1' section is all that is left now ..the customer moved house after a few years and could not fit the layout into his new home ...as I had been maintaining it for him for several years I was given it ...a small problem as I did not have enough space for the full layout ...the rest of it was about 9'x6'...that was scrapped and I hung on to the Terminus section with the thoughts of "I can do something with that one day " many moons and a couple of false starts...illness + time away from the shop has given me a push to do a small project ....so here are the ramblings of that project .... First a few pictures of the 8'x1' as dragged out of the end bit of the loft !! I had a couple of years ago made a start by adding new backscene and starting to adapt the Dairy building to to have a loading dock (original just had a hole in the wall!) then it went back in with the spiders....."Bishopscourt" was its original name ...Peco code 75 track by the way ... the whole 8'x1'...... Run out of energy now....more to come later ... Regards Trevor...
Kenton
Interesting layout. Alot of features built into it. However, I think waiting at that station for a train would have have got up the nose of the townsfolk.
sunshine coast
Interesting layout. Alot of features built into it. However, I think waiting at that station for a train would have have got up the nose of the townsfolk. If I am right ...? you are hinting at the cattle pen position...... That never made sense to me ...but a customer is always right ...things have changed ..for the better ..I hope .. First to go was the Station building ....a bit of a hodge potch and showing signs of neglect.. Hornbys GWR station is not a bad building to use as a basis and fitted the position ... The awning is quite large ...and very bright ..! So out with some paints and tone down the building as well...............also "The Great Stink" was removed and hopefully a more logical use of the dock..... a bit of a play to check the effects ...........still not convinced of the awning ... More soon .... Regards Trevor ...
sunshine coast
The station canopy still did not feel right somehow ..too plain ...too dark ..too big ...not really sure ,but it just niggled me ....so I made up a Ratio apex canopy and then took out a saw and off with the Hornby resin canopy...! The removal did not leave too much of a scar and with a touch up of paint and adjustment of height the two blended together really well ....both canopies and the station building were painted with light and dark stone ...the dark stone shows very red in the photos but is not as odd as it looks in reality ...honest ! I think this has improved the look of the station building area....signs,details etc will be added in time to further upgrade the area .... Now next on the list ........ This ....! I think I can hear the bulldozers starting their engines ... more soon .... Regards Trevor ....
sunshine coast
Just a couple of photos ...one to prove cameras do lie ....dark stone ...not red !!!!! and everything will line up and be bedded down properly once I stop banging around and turning the boards upside down to work on various areas ..... and another just because it's a nice engine and all the electrics worked to run it !!! sunshine coast
Well the bulldozers arrived on time .......... then the builders were in ..... very quick these Bachmann workers ....it fitted the spot well and why not use RTP buildings ...it will get a few modifications and details as time goes on ... The yard crane will be kept but has been repositioned a bit to give a bit of space between it and the goods shed ..... while I was removing the old goods shed some silly thoughts came into my head and I did this to the existing track ...the new ballast shows a re-alignment.. Why you may ask ....... so I could do this ............... Yes ...the 8'x1' is now 16' x 1' much more to come now ..... Regards Trevor ...
ColinW
You have done a good job so far, especially using the more modern resin buildings from Bachmann and Hornby, and the extension looks to be well under way. Will look forward to seeing further updates. Colin
