forest2807
One of my Bachmann 37's has this problem. When the current is applied the motor buzzes very loudly before the loco moves. The buzzing quietens down when the loco gets faster but never fully disappears; this is by far my noisiest Bachmann loco. I'm quite happy stripping down and cleaning/re-wiring modern chassis and motors, but can anyone tell me before I do, what exactly is the problem? I should've said that when electric current is applies directly to the motor (and not via the wheels) the motor runs very sweetly. It is definitely an electrical buzz/hum though, not a mechanical issue with the drive shafts or gears. Can anyone shed any light on this before I strip it down? Thanks in advance. pauln
I have one that sounds like this on DCC so may not just be a DC issue.
bigherb
I've had this problem with a few Bachman locos and my Dapol Sentinal. I cured it by soldering a resistor across the pick up wires after a bit of experimenting 2.2K ohms seemed to do the trick. I haven't got DCC so it couldn't recommend it for that.
