ThaneofFife
Has anybody here take the plunge and purchased the sound decoders I have seen available at various trade stands at shows and on ebay, also how do you rate them? I am thinking of LegoBiffoMan, Trains4U and Olivias Trains who all offer these chips. Any downsides youve experienced? Where did you obtain yours from? Would you recommend them? What features does your particular decoder come with? Playable horn sounds, loco off ticking sounds, blower sound timed with the models movement etc..... gridwatcher
Biffs electrics are pretty good! I am sure that none of the 85s are totally legit BUT the sounds can be faked more easily with a sparky?! Blower fans, clicks whirrs. I assume many are composites of other electric recordings to get as close as possible to the 85. Biffs chips are very driveable and I like the playable horns. cassey jones
ThaneofFife, Bifs sound loco's are the best of the Loksound chips - personal opinion. If you what drive ability, then take a look at the Digitrains multi drive sounds, available on Zimo sound chips, these take driving a loco to the next limit. - again personal opinion!
