Poindexter
Hi this is my Hornby Class 08 with Zimo Dcc Sound and Custom Lights The decoder is a Zimo MX648R Sub Mini Sound Decoder from Digitrains, details here http://www.digitrains.co.uk/ecommerce/search/zimo-mx648r-mini-sound-decoder.aspx Sounds are through a 8ohm oval speaker mounted in the nose. I have posted it here as there doesnt seem to be to much info about Zimo sound in a 08 The lights are from ebay from a seller called stickswipe who makes custom DCC lights to order. http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/stickswipe Stickswipe is also called LlangollDiesel on youtubehttp://www.youtube.com/user/LlangollDiesel The conversion took me about 3 evenings. More pictures of the install can be found here. http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/24236-stockton-road-tmd/page__st__125#entry800459 Cheers Guy

southwestern
Hi Guy....great post....I want an 08 with sound. The Hornby dcc sound loco seems to have bad press regarding sound. Your option looks like a way forward for me. Has anyone fitted good sound to a Bachmann 08? Victor.
tractor_37260
Easily the best sounding 08 I've heard to date ! Looks and sounds very impressive with working lights, and smooth running. The std factory fitted sound Hornby 08 is dreadful ! Question: noticed on the layout some BR Gilbow lorries, in particular the Ford flatbed artic, I've been looking for one of them for some time, where did you get it ? Anyone got one for sale ? Poindexter
Hi Ken It does sound good doesn't it? The D series is a Base Toys one. I got mine from hattons http://www.ehattons.com/36704/Base_Toys_DA12_D_Series_Artic_Flat_Empty_Pallet_Load_British_Rail_/StockDetail.aspx Cheers Guy
tractor_37260
Hi Ken It does sound good doesn't it? The D series is a Base Toys one. I got mine from hattons http://www.ehattons....tockDetail.aspx Cheers Guy Hi Guy Cheers for the link - I was originally searching for a Gilbow version not Base toys, although they look very similar. I used to drive Ford D's and Bedford TK flatbed artics a few moons ago for BR/NCL transporting amongst other things butts/hoggies of whisky . Digitrains Zimo 08 to be ordered soon. Already have a couple of Zimo fitted 37's, but they need updating to V2 Regards Ken
