jwealleans
I've been given some part scratchbuilt 4mm wagon bodies which I'd like to finish. Two of them are single bolster bodies, 12' long and 7'6" wide with a single wooden plank side. I've looked through my LNER reference books in vain for a prototype this size - the only one I found was the GE one which had steel sides. Knowing the chap who we believe built them they will be accurate - but accurate to what? Answers giving companies whose axleboxes/buffers are readily available will be appreciated! TIA. 34theletterbetweenB&D
I built myself a couple decades ago this size, from a RM (probably Ken Werrett) drawing of a twin bolster set. Pretty sure it was NER, but don't have the original article any longer to refer to.
jwealleans
There are some NER ones listed in the Ken Werrett list Phil did some time ago; interestingly there are some MSWJR ones also listed and specified as 12', and MSWJR was mentioned to me as a possibility. The NER ones clearly didn't make Tatlow's book. I'll keep looking. There was a third one with this pair which is 13' over headstocks. That one is going to become an NE example. Nick Holliday
What about the shorter LBSCR single bolster? - 12 feet long and 7 foot six inches wide fits the bill perfectly. The longer type was 13 feet long, so perhaps they are all LBSC prototypes.
jwealleans
Good suggestion, Nick; I'll have to look out drawings for those as well. Thanks.
