28XX
I want to build a Woolworths for Stourhampton. Size wise it will be similar to Erdington. It will have the older style of ground floor windows with dark frames as shown here at Hanley in 1960. This pic of Wavertree in 1931 shows the upstairs window frames a dark colour too. My question is, what was that older dark colour and when did they change to white window frames?
shortliner
AFAIR the window frame colour would be described as Mahogany or dark cherry. In the fifties the floors were wood. Sign in dark (almost Maroon) red background with F. W. Woolworth in gold I think you may find it difficult to find a colour photo from this side of the Atlantic
crompton 33
kingsway card kits do a woolworth kit with a choice of era. might be just what you are looking for.
BernardTPM
Model Land used to have Woolworth shop signs in a couple of their kits too. I don't think the red is much different to the later red, at least post-war http://www.woolworth...sByWoolies.html
RMweb Gold Worsdell forever Posted October 20, 2012 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 20, 2012 Although they may not be photos these should give a good idea of the colours used.

28XX
Many thanks for all your help. I had found some of the web content, the history which comes with is fascinating too. I'll start a workbench thread when we get underway.
