scorpion
The ex Fastline depot at Doncaster Roberts Rd,previously home to the Class 56s, was taken over by GBRF and as of today the buildings have been razed to the ground and there is evidence of redevelopment, does anyone know what is planned for the site? RMweb Gold big jim Posted November 24, 2012 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 24, 2012 i have been past it a few times since GBRf took over and seen it used for light wagon maintainance but other than that there seems to be very little activity is the "mole shed" still standing or has everything gone? it was sad to see the site without the buildings the first time i past it after fastline, especially as the signs were still up, spent a few happy hours shunting round there with a
scorpion
It is literally flattened, not a building is left, the track is stacked up in panels, however there was a lot of plant on site levelling and digging there are also a couple of dozen wheelsets lined up near the entrance
RMweb Gold big jim Posted January 25, 2013 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 25, 2013 update: planning application in for the old fastline depot for rail maintainance facility inc wheel lathe http://planning.doncaster.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=summary&keyVal=MF9TODFX08O00
scorpion
they have relaid 3 full length sidings just over the fence from the running lines, the area beyond is still flat. Portakabins are occupied and wagon maintenance seems to be underway quite a few bio mass wagons there today plus coal hoppers and open boxes
scorpion
a lot of new steelwork now in place for the Electro-motive facility, its a 3 road shed with enough headroom for heavy lifting, the yard is being prepared for track, this development is separate from the 3 sidings being used by GBRF for wagon maintenance. Presumably there is a realisation that class 66s are going to need overhauls and not left to wear out like the 60s
