Happy Birthday, London Underground

Today marks the 150th anniversary of the London Underground, when a train of top-hatted invited guests (including, so goes the family legend, one of my ancestors) travelled from Paddington to Faringdon.  Public services began the following day.

The Post Office has issued a set of 10 commemorative stamps to mark the anniversary.  Calling in at the main post office in New Oxford Street, it seems they, and many other branches, won't be allocated any - I'll try Trafalgar Square later.

I'm thankful that my journey this morning was on the Central Line, having seen on Google.co.uk today that the tube map has been transformed and many lines disrupted - however the new East London branch of the Victoria Line looks interesting!

Edit: Some other interesting and amusing variants of the tube map here http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/technology-science/technology/london-undergrounds-150th-birthday-celebrated-1525217
