ianwales
Hi all Did any of the low running plate Caprotti class 5 loco carry LMS on the tender or were they all built too late for that and have only carried BR insignia? Ian
laurenceb
The first Caprotti class 5s appeared in 1948 so presumably carried British Railways on the tender Laurence
Ian Allen
The first two engines entered traffic without their M prefixes as 4748 and 4749, but carried "BRITISH RAILWAYS" on their tenders. 44743 ran for a while with a coal weighing tender in Feb 1949 which still carried it's LMS lettering.
