Hi, I bought a blue Bachmann Deltic today at a toy and train fair, the box is marked DCC fitted which the vendor confirmed. He also confirmed that locos with a chip will run fine on good old 12v DC....Please advise.

Although I'd love the sound part of DCC , my financies and the number of old elderly locos I have make this way out of my price bracket.

Cheers Rich

They normally run okay as long as you dont have HF track cleaner in the circuit, these can blow the chips so itf you have a HF track cleaner you will need to disconnect it or fit a blanking plate in the loco.

Yes decoder fitted locos will work on DC if they have it enabled in the decoder. DC opereration can be switched off by decoder settings.

Not all DC controllers are suitable for operation of DCC fitted locos, might be better to tell us what your controller is, and as Royaloak has said, high frequency track cleaners (Relco and similar) will destroy the decoder immediately.
