Obi-Jiff Kenobi
I have a couple of books on the subject which I found quite useful, but unfortunately neither of them are to hand. If I can lay my hands on them I'll provide title/author details - possibly by the weekend.

Arthur
'The Unbeaten Track' by Collie Knox, Cassell 1944, is written as a tribute to the contribution by the railways, and their staff in particular, though it concentrates on the GWR.
