Note the precision screwdriver used as a paint stirrer - true British Bodge.

A work colleague told me that a certain nationality refers to the adjustable spanner as the English Spanner.

Highly amusing.

screwdriver like many a truly universal tool and the correct tool has for that second suddenly disappeared as by magic.

I will give them a run in one formation as per a delivery from York to say Stowmarket with a couple of 57s of something up front. After that.... It's time to get dirty. Pictures may be useful I will pm you if that's ok nearer the time ?

Or returning back to York after a jetting season

See about 13:10 on this vid

Cheers,

Mick

A few moments of thought on the gypsum containers today, and the possibility of using crazy computer paper for the decals.

I have measured up a container, taken a photo then made this an actual size image in Photoshop.

post-1261-0-36706800-1393258163.png

So, now I can roughly compare an actual container with a model one and get the decals the right size [that's the theory].

So, as a rough go here is an example with the yellow square, a number and the GBRF sticker:

post-1261-0-44299900-1393258269.png

If theory goes to plan, after I'd designed the decals, I'd drag them off the photo and copy a load of them, then group onto a sheet [some would need to go on clear, some on white].

Crossing fingers they would be roughly the right size.

So, next it's a bit of playing trying to create the right decals at the right size.

Naturally, all rights reserved for the containers to Wild Boar Models.

YES !

Finished the hand rails....

post-1261-0-86032800-1393673498_thumb.jpg

Strike up the spray paint....

These eventually get super glued to the bases of the modules.

The L shaped "rail" allows you to do this.

You then paint the bottom "rail" network rail blue to match the base.

Easy when you know how....

Hmmm. That didn't work well.

Globules formed on the rails, so I've thrown the lot in cellulose thinner to remove.

They did look very shiny afterwards !

Plan B - standard white primer......just applied in the garden in a thin coat, will re coat shortly.

Saves repainting I guess.....

Steps.... Only a few to do....

Making a bit better job this time having learnt a bit. Filing them off, and I've twigged that the top step folds backwards - gives you a bit more to glue to the base of the module !

About two hours work results in this:

The door handles for the generator module I've painted on the fret:

The lights on the generator module I've painted the fluorescent tubes white:

Comes together step by step, just very time consuming.

The mass small fiddly bits never seam to end and can be very frustrating, but once done and added make an empty shape in to the end product. minus the final paint stage etc and another great job is done, you cant say fairer then that.

Bobster - wow ! Thanks for all the "likes" !

I've primed the steps this afternoon in between the rain.

Day off this week - aim to finish the transfers on the 2 remaining RHTT sets.

Have a good week.

Nick

Solid work from about 730 until 1230 has progressed the remaining modules somewhat.

Transfers applied (still got to do a few plus cantrails) and handrails glued on.

Got to glue steps on too.

So, with what I've completed already and these there are enough for 5 complete sets.

I just need 6 water tanks to make 7 sets.

Time for a break ?

Thanks Tase... It must have been me wondering whether I could do it then !

Massively satisfying to have something that you can't buy in the shops AND that I built them myself.

It's such a different looking piece of kit too, not a rectangular coach or engine or a boxy wagon.

I'd guess on a few more days, maybe the end of the weekend to get the final touches done on the 5.

Weathering ?????

Yep, I've referred to that during this build.

Their build was pre Railtec doing the transfers I think - their one looks very bare compared to mine, a lot quicker to do I suspect....

Fair play though they did have the correct FEA (the one that I sent you and you are building - right??)

Yeh, iirc they used the decals from the now defunct Scale Model Transfers.

Your FEA's are on my workbench. I'm taking my time because I want to get them absolutely spot on - you're not in any rush are you? ;)
