Hi all

As an update to our original notice we can now confirm 3 further quality layouts attending this years show

Wiley City - HO:  Andy Gautrey’s latest slice of the Yakima Valley Transportation Co. network in Washington State. As featured in Continental Modeller and Model Railroader. Possibly the first time this has been shown south of the Watford Gap!

http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/33657-wiley-city/

Falcon Lake – Standard gauge latter-day logging line in HO from Dave Barclay

http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/63057-falcon-lake/

Saw Pit Creek – Neil Lancaster’s take on DRGW narrow gauge in HOn3. As seen at this year’s NMRA Winter Meet at Benson

Check back for more update closer to the time......

Wiley has only been to two shows so far, TVNAM and Nottingham. It'll probably be it's only trip south of the Thames, as I don't envisage having much time to exhibit it from next year onwards.

Seven weeks to go till the big event.........

Since the last update we have had a couple of changes the layouts / traders attending. Modellers Mate will not be able to attend and on the layout side of things "Essex" has had to pull out but we think we have secured and excellent replacement in the shape of Ian Lampkin's N scale "Santa Barbara"

Cheers

It's a bit far to come, but I wish you all well and pictures would be good- I bought a Tee-shirt this morning in Tesco that I couldnt resist for Glasgow next year - it says "COME ROUND TO THE DARK SIDE"

We are quite close to Gatwick Airport for any long distance visitors!!!!

A couple of the members have already booked out time to take photos so that shouldn't be a problem.

Still some spaces left on Easyjet flights to from Glasgow and Gatwick for Saturday aswell!!

Ian

Inverness might be better for Jack, (what Ryanair call London Inverness).

Some of the routings are interesting, there are direct flights but one booking took me on a Gatwick-Edinburgh-Belfast-Inverness route....

Ah

Didn't realise he was that far North

If you like airports then that would be a good way to do them!!!

I think I will stick with the train.

I think I've got everything packed up (except the kitchen sink) and it's all ready to go in the car in preparation to face the M25 at rush hour.

I've also nearly finished something to play with on Wiley City, I have had a total of three NWSL Master Units for quite a while but have been hesitant to paint them as there is some uncertanty regarding the correct colours as the preserved ones carry lighter colours than when in service. I ended up matching the cream and green to those on the Custom Traxx decal set.

It is in late 30's condition so will only be making brief appearances as the plan is to operate the layout in the more popular 80's condition.

Mrs Dreyfus likes to go into Horsham shopping, so I may well make some time to wander over and take a look.

Good to see you today and have a chat.

Some excellent layouts from the dark side including a superb HOn3 layout.

A fairly local show for us so an easy run home.

Good luck 298 with the journey home.

Now relaxing with a rather nice pint or two.

Not a bad run home, I arrived back about half an hour ago (which was probably before some club members had finished their day) to find the kids hadn't actually run Mrs 298 ragged- although she wasn't too impressed when I told her the list of exotic locations i'd handed details to.

Thankyou to the Seaboard Southern members for organizing the event, I hope it was a success. From an exhibiting point of view it did seem to be more of a general show, perhaps "darker than darkside" traction modelling needs more if an introduction...

It was nice to see such a variety of North American layouts and such a high standard. I am not normally a fan of smaller layouts but there were some real gems and the operating really brought them to life.

It would appear that the North American signals I made for the Signalist decoder demo (on the Coastal DCC stand) were quite popular. I will have to find a way of mass producing them! I did not realise that ready made signals are so hard to come by.

It was indeed...

It was a really enjoyable little show, with a uniformly high standard of layouts; well worth a visit.

I made my customary trip around the show with my camera; a few pictures below...

Only Railroad Crossing is missing...not sure why I missed that one.

My journey to the dark side was compounded by the purchase of three Atlas boxcars (all 1950s/60s era) plus an Accurail kit for a 40' steel reefer. I sense a slippery slope being encountered here!  :O
