Sleepers Models, Erdington, Birmingham

Hi all

 

Anybody know whether "Sleepers" in Gravelly Lane is still in existence?

It doesn't appear in any current guides.

 

It was a mainly model railway shop with piles of used stuff in a totally disorganised state!

 

I went there and sold some surplus stuff (I got a reasonable return on what I was disposing of) about 5 years ago and wondered if it was still in business.

Somewhere on here, or possibly the old forum there is a post that confirms it has closed.

Last time I looked in -late last year- there was still the same chaos - I was led to understand the owner was ill.

It is a shame if this shop has closed as it used to be a bit of a goldmine for 2nd hand stuff. 

The shop was always very disorganised and got even worse over the years.

The last time I went there around June 2012 and it was closed but the stock was still in the shop.

I only visit Birmingham about 2-3 times a year now, so somebody more local may have more knowledge than me.

I also always visit Southern Railways in the Stechford area of Birmingham. Very good for 2nd hand stuff and a very friendly owner. I think Southern is only open on Fridays and Saturdays.
