Quite a lot of the action scenes in The Train were derived from those in La Bataille du Rail which was made very soon after the liberation. Apart from the actual drama, I find it particularly interesting for its detailed depiction of French operating practice in the forties and fifties. If you've not come across it before it's well worth seeing. One of the classic railway films of all time.
