RMweb Gold Graham_Muz Posted September 19, 2009 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted September 19, 2009 I am pleased to announce that following successful growth by doubling our membership over the last 5 years the High Wycombe and District Model Railway Society have expanded our Society Rooms from just under 2000 sq/ft to well over 4000 sq/ft. The increased space will allow for improved member facilities including: a better kitchen and rest area, workshop, meeting and demonstration / lecture area and space for additional planned layouts and a new multi gauge test track. By taking on the lease and renovation of the neighbouring rooms at their location near the centre of High Wycombe we will be able to better cater for the needs of our current membership of over 50, whilst also supporting the Societies continued growth and providing an enhanced environment for modelling, learning and social activities alike. Having been quite a layout centric Society in the past, recently demonstration evenings have been introduced to allow members to pass on knowledge and skills to other members. With increased space now available including the new demonstration / lecture area along with a dedicated workshop area this will enhance the ability of the Society to continue to further assist members with their own development in the hobby. The Society has both strong British and North American sections and nine existing layouts either built or under construction and gauges ranging from N, 00, H0 and 0, ensuring a wide range of interests are met. Two new layouts are planned, a British 0 gauge and a North American H0 along with a new 20??™ x 12??™ multi gauge test track incorporating N, 00/H0 and 0 gauges. The new facilities will enable these new layouts to go ahead without having to dismantle existing layouts that have a number of future exhibition commitments and will benefit from still being able to be worked on and run. Feel free to drop me (the Chairman for my sins) a PM to gain further information about the Society regards
RMweb Gold Graham_Muz Posted October 26, 2009 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted October 26, 2009 Well the renovation of the new room at our clubrooms has now been pretty much completed. The first two views are of the new room looking towards the new kitchen (Bistro!) area. In the second picture above you can make out the new opening into the exisiting room which has now been refurbished and now contains a smaller number of layouts and also library, seating / table area for modelling, discussions / demonstrations etc. a area dedicated to lectures / DVD/Video view and a new workshop area. The Society currently has 9 layouts and in the views above there are a couple of visiting layouts, one of which might be familiar!
