South coast port in Sussex with ferries to Dieppe which are subsidised by the French Government, and station on the Southern Coastway line. Edward Johns used to export to the USA which is why in America you "go to the John" to have a....well, whatever. It is also the point where, prior to the recent improvements works the former two track Trent Valley line became four track towards Rugeley, leading to railwaymen dubbing Armitage "Toilet Basin Junction". In the 1800s local mine and land owners met a The Sun Inn and signed an agreement which lead to the building of the Erewash Valley Main Line.
