Herr Dienstleiter
I don't know anything about the Class 59 diesels (GM seem not to have supplied any for the Austrian narrow gauge lines) so please can someone explain to me why there is a flat area on the roof as if they were going to be fitted with a pantograph? Was an electric version planned or built? I am asking on behalf of a friend whose wife was p.a. to the ARC chairman at one time so they have the Lima model as a keepsake but are worried that they have lost the pantograph. SOS! RMweb Premium newbryford Posted April 7, 2013 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 7, 2013 The 59's are diesels - no pantograph fitted. At one end there is a large grille over the radiator panels, the other end is a large exhaust silencer. It is possible that the model is missing the exhaust moulding (I don't know if it's a seperate fitting on a Lima model), leaving a large flat space. RMweb Premium Gary H Posted April 8, 2013 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 8, 2013 I agree, Mick, sounds to me like the exhaust silencer has fell off. Shame that dose'nt happen to the real ones!
