My question, what was the number series of the wagons before transfer to departmental use?

I don't think the number would have changed upon transfer to the Engineers, simply acquiring prefix letter(s) according to whose fleet it had joined. Certainly, all the ex-traffic service wagons I remember seeing showed no sign of having been re-numbered.

Ok thanks. I have 4 of the Bachmann RTR ones, so I'll just pick numbers within those limits.
