RMweb Premium boxbrownie Posted April 14, 2013 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 14, 2013 HI chaps, I am getting a bit jumpy now as I am on the verge of ordering either a green or blue version but I just cannot seem to find a picture of a prototype with the cabside arrows, I have been told they were a transition between green and blue with central arrows but how long for, were they only around for such a short time no one photographed them? RMweb Gold DaveF Posted April 14, 2013 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 14, 2013 Here's a few from my flickr site. There are more but they don't have readable numbers. There should be : 5634, 5671 (2 of), 5659 If you go to: http://www.flickr.com/photos/davidwf2009/collections/72157626274215250/ and look at the set "Swayfield 1970 to 1983" you will see more, but I don't have the numbers for them David

RMweb Premium TimC Posted April 14, 2013 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 14, 2013 David Have a look through this Flickr Group - should be one that takes your fancy. Though I was surprised to see that pre TOPS numbers were quite common with single arrows too. http://www.flickr.com/groups/1690412@N24/pool/with/6077699287/#photo_6077699287
RMweb Premium boxbrownie Posted April 14, 2013 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted April 14, 2013 Brilliant, thanks David........I actually much prefer the green scheme, fond memories and looks like I could just about justify a well worn green 31 trundling around in the company of my early blues, hmm why not eh? And I love the picture with the Mk3 Cortina in it.....great composition and added interest. Or you could have a green one. 2 more of my images. RMweb Premium boxbrownie Posted April 14, 2013 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted April 14, 2013 Tim, what a great site.....thanks for that now I will have no problem justifying anything.....lots of choice! Vin
Hi, if you want to change it to a pre TOPS version with only two arrows it is quite easy. Buy some cheap nail varnish remover (the one with acetone in it) then by using a cotton bud gently rub off the old cab side arrows. Hope this is of help for your prototype. RMweb Premium boxbrownie Posted May 8, 2013 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted May 8, 2013 Thanks for the info.......I picked mine up from my local supplier yesterday (he matched the lowest price on the net and I always prefer to give him my patronage anyway!). its a "four arrow" RailBlue which after much reseaching fits in with my Stratford period perfectly, I had no idea there were different "unofficial" paint schemes. The model looks the part, very pleased with it.......all I need now is a layout
