Earl Bathurst
I am trying to chip these models using the Gaugemaster opti decoders the small type. My problem is where the wiring harness plugs into the socket you cant put the tender top back on properly, has anyone else had this problem or is there a solution to it? Any help will be gratefully received. Thanks Scott
34theletterbetweenB&D
One very simple potential solution to this kind of clearance problem, is to unscrew the socket from whatever it is mounted on so it may be moved or turned slightly to a position which offers the necessary space. Just ensure with a little insulating tape that the soldered pin connections on the socket underside cannot short out on metal work.
Earl Bathurst
Hi Thanks I did consider this but there is very limited clearance there as well but might try it anyway. Thanks Scott
RMweb Premium Hilux5972 Posted December 27, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 27, 2016 I usually just add crushed coal on top of the plastic coal load that comes with the loco so the other option is to cut away the coal bunker underneath. RMweb Gold The Fatadder Posted December 27, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 27, 2016 For my 2800s one is DCC fitted by Hornby, the other I hard wired (again lens gold) and had to remove the weight to get the body back on. It seems to run fine without it, but if I get problems I will add some lead in the remaining gaps
