Indomitable026
I "happened" across the following drawing the other day, it should help me considerably with my sizing/ scaling. There's no date on the drawing, it is labled "British Rail, Scottish Region, R. M. & E. E. Plant Services." Any thoughts ?...
RMweb Premium Mark Forrest Posted November 11, 2013 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 11, 2013 You know you can import this into Templot as a background then draw you track over it? See the notes here.

P.C.M
More temptation. This pic was taken in 86 but this beast was in this livery in 85. I have just bumped the Scottish region in the 80s thread in the prototype section. Well worth a look. Cheers Peter.

Indomitable026
First of all Happy New Year to you all No physical progress to report however plenty of thinking (should that be drinking?) has gone on. Having recently read Mark Forrests approach to his Wolverhampton Low Level Project through his Fryers Lane (Foundry Lane 2) thread, I may alter my approach to my next project. He has decided because this his first venture into P4, that a small 'test piece/layout' should be built first to test that he is able to build and apply the principles. This to me sounds a very sound idea, one which I'm going to adopt since this my first venture into Scale Seven. So I plan to build a couple more points and mount them on the smallest board I can get away with to test (play) ahead of the main layout build. I also plan soon to start buying a small amount of stock to the same end. In the mean time I managed yesterday to avoid any modelling by meeting Uncle Old (Jonnie) Gringo and Sir Andy York at the Great Central Railway for a few hours - and very civilised it was too. A few 'reference shots, apologies in advance for the steam pictures - ha ha ha..... Enjoy the new year - hopefully I'll get around to kicking off this project.....
Indomitable026
Right then, I've been fiddling around. Nothing too serious but starting to think out how to do certain jobs. To this end I'm keen to get the point I built on a board and get the operation mechanism sorted. I've got a spare board frame from the now defunct "Diesels in the Duchy" fiddle yard. So a cut down in length and the addition of a new cross brace. I've had to use the strap to clamp the joints because I don't have any cramps long enough. And then start to add a top, it will be cut down and the off cut used on the end. Old Gringo will recognise the drawing on the top as this piece of wood was earmarked for the Wye section of his currently mothballed Wild West layout. All this re-use of material - it must be the Scot in me or the fact I work in Yorkshire! This is the remaining bit off the old fiddle, I can't see that bit getting reused. Just waiting for the top to dry on before I cut it down.
Indomitable026
I liek the idea of using the strap as a long clamp....note taken Not my idea (like most things) but works really well. This is only meant as a test piece and won't form part of the final layout. Planning for the main layout continues, with all sorts of ideas being considered.
