RMweb Premium Barry O Posted June 5, 2014 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted June 5, 2014 A4.. Merlin .. Shed cleaned... off to Oz and a close up of the firebox/cab area The Hornby loco is nice - but isn't particularly glossy so a bit of work has been done to shine up the non - dirty parts.
RMweb Premium Barry O Posted June 19, 2014 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted June 19, 2014 (edited) A Hornby Britannia - Clive Of India - shed cleaned and with a crew added. Took a bit of work to get the sheen to it as the Hornby Green is very matt. A closer look at the front end.. enjoy! RMweb Premium Barry O Posted July 2, 2014 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted July 2, 2014 (edited) and for something completely different - re-weathering "weathered" RTR wagons. Why do it? Well not all wagons were covered in a brown colour sprayed on the underframes and lower body sides The client wanted to still be able to see the company names on these two Dapol Rectangular tank wagons so.. and I have been busy with another Murgatroyd's Tanker... just finished in time for another one to arrive in the post.. enjoy.. RMweb Premium Barry O Posted August 22, 2014 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted August 22, 2014 I have been busy regauging wagons and adding 3 link couplings to them before weathering them. First off the block are some mineral wagons... 12 24.5T and 2 16T so far plus an unfitted LMS designed long wheelbase brake van.. First up 3 24.5T minerals.. These are Parkside/Ian Kirk kits and are now EM now a couple of 16T minerals - I think these are ex Parkside kits and again are in EM and finally a 24.5T with a Hornby ex LMS brake van Off to so some 21T minerals next..

RMweb Premium Barry O Posted September 15, 2014 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted September 15, 2014 (edited) Thanks to everyone who made the weekend at STEAM in Swindon so enjoyable - even more so when some further experimentation on weathering effects could lead to more weathering options... RMweb Premium Barry O Posted September 25, 2014 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted September 25, 2014 I have had a busy week. Latest items out of the workshop are some parkside Insulated Fish Vans. These have been regauged (to EM), couplings added and weathered and the third one is slightly less dirty Baz

RMweb Premium Barry O Posted September 28, 2014 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted September 28, 2014 Steve They are not noticeable on the real thing. Its a layer of very fine powder. The photos are in effect "blown up" as part of being reduced to go on RMWeb. I will add some other photos of other locos as I finish them this week. RMweb Premium Barry O Posted September 30, 2014 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted September 30, 2014 So .. after a busy few days I managed to get on and do some weathering work today. Due to a slight problem with the focus of the camera I apologise for the slightly blurry loco number ...and its going back tomorrow... A Shed Cleaned BR Standard 7 - Britannia Class: Dornoch Firth. Built by Mike Edge (1981) Painted by Larry Goddard (Coachman) close up of the motion and the build up of dirt around the footplate/smoke deflector etc and compare this one to a Hornby one... I like the scratchbuilt one...
the penguin of doom
The fluting on the side rods shows up really well there Barry where the weathering has worn off. It really highlights the fine detail. Cheers. Sean.
RMweb Premium Barry O Posted October 2, 2014 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted October 2, 2014 (edited) Thanks Sean...I use a base layer of American rust on the motion work. Its not paint but it does does provide a better surface for the rest of the weathering.Baz Edited October 2, 2014 by Barry O
