Potter again
I am currently building a mimic panel, to which I want to use 3mm LEDs as indicators. When I attempt to engage an LED into a panel mounting clip, it does not appear to retained. How exactly do the the LED mounting clips work?
cliff park
Which sort of clip is it? Are you sure it is for a 3mm LED? Does the clip not hold in the hole, or the LED not hold in the clip? Sorry, you ask one simple question and I fire more back at you
Potter again
The clip fits the hole, but the LED does not appear to be retained by it. It is a 1 piece LED Panel Clip, for 3mm LEDs (Rapid Electronics Part No: 55-0160) .
squeaky
i have used the type you have, they need a dab of glue to help retain the led, a hot glue gun is the best or epoxy resin.
Brian
Hi I have found that if the actual panel hole is not drilled to exactly the specified size the clip is loose or too tight in the hole and fails in turn to grip the LED. The clips with a locking ring tend to be better if available. But the panel hole size is still important. Fix as suggested with a tiny spot of glue. Superglue, hot melt or impact all hold ok but only use a small spot of glue.
