Tricky-CRS
I am researching the above brake to diagram No.35, with view to an N Gauge kit. Please can anyone help?
Wild Boar Fell
Hello Richard, Some basic history here, and a small drawing of one side and the ends. http://www.nbr4mm.co.uk/brakevans/9108.htm Regards, Wild Boar Fell
Tricky-CRS
Hi Matthew That is not the one I have in mind, the one I am thinking is at the top of Page 141, The Pictorial Record of LNER Wagons by Peter Tatlow (Oxford Pub.)
RMweb Premium Sasquatch Posted June 25, 2013 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 25, 2013 If it is a NE van then there is a drawing on page166 in LNER wagons vol2-North eastern Area by Peter Tatlow, wild swan pub. This one is 4mm scratch built!
RMweb Premium Sasquatch Posted June 25, 2013 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 25, 2013 Built by the North eastern railway to dia V6 and continued by the LNER as dia 35 Possibly only 2 examples! I think they were engineers blue but the one usually standing in the whinestone loading siding at Goathland is bauxite. Hope this helps.
Tricky-CRS
Update, I am thinking of changing to LNER diagram 203, does anyone know about these please?
Wild Boar Fell
Apparently some survive into preservation, http://www.lner.info/forums/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=2840 (note there is some confusion in the articles with Shark ballast ploughs) There is suppose to be one at the East Lancs, and one at Shildon. http://www.flickr.com/photos/pyewipe-jct/6233543675/ Is this the one your looking for? RMweb Premium Sasquatch Posted June 29, 2013 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 29, 2013 LNER diagram 35 differs from NE dia V6 in deeper end windows, buffers and small LNER pattern grab handles. The 203 had steel duckets and a steel underframe with trusses. From what I can make out far less roof embelishments aswell. If its a kit you aim to produce parts could be provided for both 35 and 203. Shame it's not 4mm Paul Bartletts site might help: http://paulbartlett.zenfolio.com/lnerballastbrake Shaun. Tricky-CRS
Shaun 4mm version speak to Wild Boar Models above, he is designing the N Gauge version for me and has the option on other scales.

There will be a drawing of 203 in the next Tatlow book , part 4B based on the dimensions we took of 301559. Note that these wagons are BR wagons, I await seeing what Peter T has written about how they were finished when newly built but they were a 1948 build. Tricky-CRS
I am really stumped by this then, I think I may stick to 203 and put a fake livery option in the kit. Unless anyone knows of an older type that lasted into BR and that photo's and drawing exist for? Paul do you know when this book is due out?
hmrspaul
Paul do you know when this book is due out? No, Wild Swan are VERY slow. I believe they have had the manuscript for some considerable time. I think it is his son ?? whom sometimes comments about Peter's books on RMWeb. Paul

I realise this photo is 40 years ago (good grief ) http://PaulBartlett.zenfolio.com/lnerbrake/e31991051 Paul
Tricky-CRS
Hi Paul Thank you for details of the book, I really want to do a kit that covers LNER and BR, 203 is BR only. I am awaiting news about another book then will have a rethink.

Tricky-CRS
Hi micklner that looks great just what I am looking for. Please can I ask where you got your info on this, how long did they last, drawings and pics? Your help is much appreciated.
RMweb Premium Sasquatch Posted July 1, 2013 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 1, 2013 I have given you all the info above, Richard? Micks very nice model is NE dia V6 but with LNER small grab handels but there is no accounting for variations over time. LNER engineers stock was blue, BR repaints could have been what ever was available due to the age of the stock. My rather poor attempt is bassed on the Dia V6 still on the NYMR, although I haven't been there (yet) it can be seen in many photographs. Thanks for the link Paul, great site by the way. The fact that the water tower is grey back dates this pic a good 12 years or more. Shaun.

I am awaiting news about another book then will have a rethink. Which is why I didn't understand the comment, as there is one from earlier on that survived to be preserved. It appears to still exist, http://www.ws.vintagecarriagestrust.org/ws/WagonInfo.asp?Ref=7390 so is available for measuring. Paul
Tricky-CRS
Ah okay I have been playing dim and got completely wires crossed sorry to all. In fact it is the one in A Pict. Record of LNER Wagons, that has a drawing but not a photo.
