Tim Lewis
Dear Tim, many thanks for your kind comments and picture. Look closerly at your picture, at first glance it appears to be a standard 6ft bracket (Which it is), now take a closer look at the "Side Bracket", it is recovered ex NERly/M&H equipment, a combination I have never seen before. Do you please have any other pictures of this signal? Thanks also for the "Concrete" signal photo, another one for the collection. I eventualy hope to make one for my own layout. Many Thanks, Mick. Mick, I have a few photos of that signal, obtained from various collections, exhibitions etc. Not sure of the copyright situation on some of them, so I've cropped them to just show the signal, which hopefully is OK. Firstly a couple of colour pictures: One that shows the bracket quite well from the other side: And finally, a shot of the signal that this one replaced (which is much more elegant!). At first I assumed that they would have re-used the small bracket off this, but I notice that the bracket is different. Several of the old NER signals at Coldstream were replaced (around 1950 I believe), so they must have got the bracket off another signal. Hope this is of interest. micknich2003
I may see if I can work one onto my proposed layout, but also with a "Spliced Concrete/Slotted" post and an "Hybred" Semaphore/MAS it may be over doing things a little. PinzaC55
Its worth noting that there was another variant of this type of signal which was reputedly constructed out of old catenary supports from the NER Shildon - Newport system which was de-electrified in 1935. This one at Scarborough and the second picture at Bedale were the only ones I knew of in situ. I tried to persuade the Wensleydale Railway to get the Scarborough one to replace the Bedale example but my words fell on deaf ears.
