kiwitrains
Just resurrected a Hornby Tender drive coronation class loco `City of Liverpool` from the attic, the tender runs great but the wheels on the loco will not go round on the track, they seem to be free enough but only just edge around sometimes. Do you think lubrication on all the push rods will work didn't want to do it in case it is too much lubrication.

RMweb Premium Trainshed Terry Posted September 10, 2013 RMweb Premium Share Posted September 10, 2013 Never use WD40 as a cleaner as the properties are corrosive to most model delicate part as well as plastic body's. Terry

Simon G
Your problem could also be the valve gear catching. Just turn the driving wheels slowly by hand and watch the valve gear very carefully on both sides. Your will usually be able to feel if the wheels are being restricted by the valve gear and you can usually see what is fouling what.

stewartingram
Switch cleaner does often dry out though, so a bit of oil (sparingly) wouldn't go amiss. If you used electrolube, that is a lubricant, but be careful as it can soften certain plastics. Stewart
