travelintrev
Spent some time last night scanning some slides I took around 1966 - 68. Most taken at or just north of Harpenden Junction. Although the last one is somewhere (I think) on the GC. Quality of them is not so good I'm afraid, but someone may find a bit of interest? Trev.. . the penguin of doom
I certainly like them. The 27's driver appears to be exchanging a single line token? Cheers. Sean.
travelintrev
Yes, that the Hemel Hempstead branch train coming off the "Nickey Line" on to the up fast line before heading south to Harpenden before crossing to the up slow lines. Rugd1022
Trev, the quality just doesn't matter when rareties like 27s on the Midland come out of hiding...! When I'm working trains up and down the Midland I often look over at where Harpenden Jcn box stood and wonder what life on the branch was like. I've seen the odd colour shot of 25s on it but never a 27 so your pics are a very pleasant surprise. Am I right in saying there was triangular access to the branch....? As a little further to the north of that tall overbridge it looks as though another chord went round trailing off the Down Fast line, the cutting is still visible and not quite fully overgrown yet...
