  2. Morning all, Pinch-Punch, White Rabbits , for it is another month! Hope your days go well Trev.
  3. Dont ask why I'm still up at this hour....long story,,,, 'Night all Trev
  4. Morning all, A bad day for me yesterday..........probably knock on from Wednesdays food-less and almost drink-less -so as I felt so rough (suspect a touch of heat stroke) I came home at 1:30 --- slept through till seven , made a cup of tea - went back to bed, then around 2 am woke up starving so had yesterdays lunch time sandwich! back to sleep till 7:30 now still not a 100% but getting there. Lets hope we all have a safe weekend? Trev.
  5. Good morning one & all, it's POETS day (in case anyone forgot!) . As to snow driving - dad let me have a go in the spring of '63....(well only cause he'd got the car [1954 Morris Oxford] stuck!) I a lot of driving on motorway haul roads in the late sixties ..hard packed wet chalk is just as slippy as black ice!... So whatever you're up to today try to stay safe. Trev
  6. Evening all, Warra couple of days thats has been yesterday mornings flight should have been at o7:45 but was but back during the night to 10:45 ....eventually we took of at 12:30.. (it's only 50 minutes in the air - but around 10 hours by road! That meant of course that we couldnt get the three site vists in yesterday , so we arranged to stop the night do the other two visits this morning and come back on the 12:30pm......guess what? During the night that was changed to 3:35 this afternoon....But of course I had not taken overnight bag...but at least the hotel has one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in and a Power-shower. I've just seen the UK's weather -- I hope every one is staying safe & warm. Not had chance to back through the postings yet, so congrats, commiserations & get wellsoon to all those effected with seasonal (& other ) ailments, Trev.
  7. Morning all, Yesterday was another day surrounded by fools & ijects! - to many to list, but here's one classic (10:30am)- "are you on way to X's site to do the survey?" No 'cause you've not sent me the address & contact details -------- silence on the end of the phone! Now I'm supposed to be flying to the Eastern part of the country today...flight was due at 07:45...got a message now that it's been delayed until 10:40! Well at least I got told this time! Smiffy's fire place reminds me of a modeling commission I got many years ago. Small company near me made fire place from Bath stone, they made one of Box tunnel and wanted a broad gauge loco to place in it for their displays. This thing was big ! If I recall correctly it was to 1:12 scale. (2-2-2). Ok enough hump day rambling from me, lets hope those & their spouses with ailments soon recover? Try and be good, Trev. PS: I know how to make snow yellow .....you just ......
  8. Morning, lets hope those suffering with various ailments are soon on the road to recovery? At the moment it's 28C & 92% humidity here....though I seemed to have slept fairly well. Oh well lets see what this day brings? Trev.
  9. Wara day I had - some stooopid politico decided to have a "Political Rally"without any fore warning at the end of the street our office is in - (elections here next Month 14 & 21) so the main road was blocked.....so of course every one was trying the back streets.....(that is being polite about them !) - I guess you've seen photos of shanty town streets---- just like that...normal journey time to office is 15 - 40 minutes - today 3 minutes short of three hours! At one point I could have walked to the office but that was not deemed safe...as these political meetings can turn violent very quickly . Its not unknown for "Area Boys" (unemployed young men) to attack these meetings - as they are on the payroll of the opposing parties......so by the time I got to the office I was not in the best of moods.... At least we got some warning of were tomorrows meets are going to be. Of course at knock off time they just finished so roads were packed again! Dunno whats up with the font on here tonight..... Time for my fresh fruit salad , try and be good this evening, Trev.
  10. Good Morning all & welcome to another Monday, congrats to Martin (and of course Mrs Martin!). Lets hope everyone's day goes to plan............. Trev.
  11. Good morning all, bad might sleep for me full of weird dreams - at least one of which involved Indian railway trains --- and carnivorous cows! Very unusual for me to dream at all, even more unusual to remember any details And I didn't get any modeling done yesterday either....will try and remedy that this afternoon. Try and make the most of your day, Trev.
  12. Good Afternoon all, was the site ready - of course not ! "So when are you bringing the crane?" When you've cleared the site (I have to get that big blue box into the building in the background all 30 tonnes of it) so I can bring the crane -"well we're going to clear it" - that's what you said two weeks ago........end of rant! Onto electrics of the domestic sort, the last house we bought had been owned by a CEGB engineer. The kitchen walls had been covered in thin tongue & groove pine paneling. Well the ex decided she wanted new kitchen units and tiled walls, so off comes the wall covering only to find that power cables to various 13a double sockets (the flat grey twin & earth) had been held in place by nails driven through the insulation. Ok now time for an afternoon nap & maybe some modelling, be good, Trev
  13. Good morning all, Seems like some good news on ER's this morning from Mal & Pete? Me I'm off to work to check a couple of sites and see who's being telling untruths...one we have to install a 30 tonne boiler which means the client has to do an amount of ground work first - as of yesterday it wasn't done..... .....so what ever your day brings may it be successful & all that you wish for? Trev
  14. Morning all, Yup it's POETS day again . though I have a sneaky suspicion that I'll be working tomorrow.... Whatever you're up to, try and make the best of it, Trev.
  15. Back again, found this tree in bloom today just out side one of our sites. (also sending full size pics to GF in lieu of flowers - dont worry she will get some real ones when she gets back to BC) Trev
  16. Evening all, here is just an extract of todays email from my GF ...................Slept well last night. Sun's up. Feel better...even before my caffeine. Hope it's a better day there. No tears; fewer fears. Wait until we are TOLD there is something to fear. Think of it for now as "something to fix".....a softer 'f' word... What a girl eh? Again thanks for all your concerns, it does mean a lot to me. Back to the regional accent subject, many years ago (back in the 90's) I went to do an installation in Kyrgyzstan for an international hotel group. The local guys who were learning to speak English and doing far better than my attempts at either Kyrg or Russian. But I had taken one of our electricians with me - who only spoke broad Geordie! One of the locals took me to one side and asked me what language he was speaking! It was a bit of a challenge trying to explain...... OK time get some reports of todays work activities off, back later p'raps Trev.
  17. Good Morning all, and Happy Birthday Mick. Well GF's back in California -- I've just spoken to her...now packing for the drive home. But we are both going to stay positive. Anyway tomorrows POETS day, so let's all make the best of the penultimate Thursday of the month. Trev.
  18. Hi folks - thank you all so much for your kind words & advice.....all dully noted. Was just a bit of a shock at 5 am to get that sort of phone call. (Yes flowers will be ordered for Marilyn's return home.) Hopefully further tests in the next few weeks should help. One down side is that I'm going to miss my Pacific Coast drive in March. Save that for another day. Railsquid - now your life will be no longer your own , by the way both my off spring were sub 5lbs (ok 2,2kg) My son (34) now a strapping 6'4" & built like a brick out house spent 6 weeks in Special care unit.... Thanks once again it really meant a lot to me as I've got no one here to talk to. Trev.
  19. Morning all, My heads all at "sixes & sevens" just had quite a disturbing phone call from GF, she's just had the results of some medical tests back which don't on the face of it bode well, it does mean she's got to curtail her California trip & head back north at the week end. Trouble my mind is going to "worst case scenario" ......and it doesn't help that I'm not a very good word-smith so cant put all my thoughts into words. Quite frankly I'm scared! Sorry to dump this on you guys first thing in the morning, Lets just get over the hump eh? Trev.
  20. Morning all, and congratulations to the Railsquid family! - Bought your new son a train-set yet? Not much else to report from here though the Hamartan is still making it's presence felt. It's just laying a fine film of dust over everything. have a good day all, Trev.
  21. Morning all, Still dark out side here, lets hope we all survive whatever the week throws at us, be good, stay safe, Trev.
  22. Good Morning all, Great pics of Ally Pally, I've exhibited there a few times but never had chance to look around. Now day of "home- work" starts...to get ready for three pre-contract start up meetings tomorrow.....and deal with a prima dona of a service engineer, and also seem to be getting dragged into some operational breakdowns.... Still teas poured, theres bacon in the fridge (and eggs) for brunch. Make the best of your day and stay safe! (I've just seen UK weather!) Trev.
  23. Good afternoon all, While I was checking on one of my clients sites this morning spent a short while watching an a bird of prey fishing for his lunch, but of course he was a bit camera shy so kept his back to me.... Now a supermarket question for you. Is it only me or do others get the same problem - needed to stock the freezer up so there is enough food for me for the remainder of the month, as normal on a Saturday morning the store is busy and half the tills are unmanned. The woman at the front of my queue firstly cant find her card, then when she does it gets rejected........so shouting match ensues --- off she goes leaving a hand full of children to guard the unpaid for shopping, the cashier calls the manager to allow the next couple of people through, back come woman number one.....with a hand full of cash and try's to pay while another customers goods are being scanned through....grrrrrr! Rant over nearly food time, be good, Trev.
  24. Good Saturday morning all, not much to report apart from the normal chaos that seems to be life nowadays! Whatever you're up to today lets hope it goes well for you. Trev.
  25. Good morning all, # It's Friday aka as POETS day for those of us who still have to work................. Lets hope we all survive whatever life throws our way today, Trev. PS: Is Fence panel wrestling going to be an up & coming Olympic sport???????
