Modelling another large logo 37/0 from 37057

hello all

I have 2 Bachmann models of 37057.

One I will retain as 37057 but wondered what options I had for modelling the other also in large logo livery.

AFAIK all ScR examples lost the livery before getting the high intensity headlight.

37116 had the headlight but also still had skirts fitted.

Others such as Motherwell's 37108 had the headlight but also had the nose doors plated over.

Any ideas ?

thanks

Dave

Dave only other one I can think of would be 37025, again as with 108 this loco had plated doors both end, you could remove the hinges etc with a knife/file

Yes I will go for 37108, I have managed to do a deal to swap my 057 body with one for 025

cheers

Bachmann's 37034 can makes a nice donor for 116 Davey..

Nice job on the re-livery to 116. What catches my eye, is how the more "bulbous" nose ends on 034 look even worse on a L/L painted loco than they do on a std BR Blue one - compare to the nose ends on 37 057.  BTW 37 116 had a plated boiler roof panel.

For some reason I can't reply quoting posts any more. But in response to tractor_260s post, no it didn't!  http://www.railphotoarchive.org/rpc_zoom.php?img=1243020049000

Sorry Ken.

I think you need to look a bit closer at the photo you linked above !  As built  - Split box 37's - No's 37 096 to 37 118 all had plated boiler roof panels, including 37 116 which later went on to become "Sister Dora" .Plenty (clear) photos on flicker that will back up my original comment. Just to be clear - my comment is not about the boiler exhaust port being open or plated over, it's the main roof panel at that end of the loco, being smooth plated rather than having riveted strips across it.   Regardless it's still a nice rework.

Ah, your edited post beat me to it- I saw your post this morning at work, but was unable to reply. The penny dropped that you must've been talking about the ribs on the boiler compartment roof- an oversight that I really should have noticed at the time! Sorry- thought you were talking about the boiler port itself.

Yep "the penny dropped here also" - that's exactly why I edited the post !

Dave

If changing 025 to 108 then the roof panel at the No2 boiler end on 025 will require the riveted strips across the roof removed to leave a smooth plated panel - see post above re 37 split box (boiler end) roof types.

How's about a few splitbox large loco examples, not previously produced by Bachmann to consider:

thanks

however the Bachmann model as made has the hi-intensity headlight fitted.

All the examples you give require the removal of this, and also in some cases addition of the Scottish Region headlamp.

If I was half the modeller I think I am I might have had a bash at attempting the modifications.

I was looking for an example that did not require any mods like this - sadly there don't seem to be any

cheers

Dave
