Modelling berries in 4mm scale. Any ideas?

Success!

Coombe Barton's gas cooker system and the bristles from a Sainsbury's washing up brush proved to be the winning combination.

A slightly more delicate and trickier runner up used the bristles from a Poundland wallpaper pasting brush.

One word of warning for anyone trying the same thing - when (and I mean when, not if) you set one of the bristles alight it will burn down really, really quickly.  If you are holding it in your fingers you will get scorched.  Use tweezers.

Off to Sainsbury's now for a replacement washing up brush!

If it catches fire you're trying to rush it and not letting the physics of molten plastic form the blob you want. Didn't think I needed to say anything about holding it safely but hey ho!

Hiya

instead of using a soldering iron for Plan A try using a hot air gun, not one of the big things used for stripping paint but the type thats using electronics for hot air reflow

of surface mount components.

Maplin sell a butane gas soldering iron/mini blow torch and it has a hot air attachment as well, be gentle with it as the brass guaze tends to fall out, but they are about £20

If you want better quality Weller do a range of gas soldering irons which have hot air attachments, but they are around £65 but will last.

very usefull at shows when a track needs soldering to make a quick repair.

Very easy with hot air  to make blobs on the end of styrene etc.
