RMweb Gold TheSignalEngineer Posted January 4, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 4, 2014 Looking back to my trainspotting days, which is the era I am modelling, I am looking for the composition of ballast trains in the West Midlands c1960. I remember lots of Mermaids at Snow Hill, along with 4 wheel hoppers of various vintages, and when i came "inside the fence" on the LMR we seemed to get Dogfish, Catfish and Mermaids on our relaying jobs. My question is did bogie hoppers like the Walrus and later versions get to the West Midlands in those days? I can't find pictures of them at that time, although there are plenty in the Blue Diesel era..
