modelman14
Hi all,new on here,so HELLO and thanks in advance for any help and guidance received!!!! Just got my first 7mm model, the Heljan Deltic, very nice n`all but room for improvement. I`ve ordered a detailing set from PHD and looking to get a ETH set from DJ Parkins are there any other worthwhile mods/improvments? I`m told a set of brass horns from DJ Parkins are worthwhile, more to scale. I`m planning on finishing the loco as 55018 Ballymoss with white window surrounds. Thanks in advance all!! Lord Flashheart
May I recommend the JLTRT ETH detail parts rather than the DJ Parkin product, I've recently used both and the JLTRT are much better castings and a few quid cheaper, hope that helps you out. RMweb Gold Enterprisingwestern Posted January 27, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 27, 2014 You've got rather a lot of filing and re shaping to do, depending how deep and dangerous you want to get, most of the body profiles are awry. Mike.

brian daniels
I painted this model from a green Deltic so could use the existing Heljan white outline that showed through my blue painting.

JeffP
They really do look lovely...except for the buffers. i NEVER saw one on which the buffers weren't horiozontal. Wouldn't you think it wouldn't be rocket science to design buffers that don't twist?
brian daniels
You will be glad to know Jeff that Heljan have been to Cape Canaveral and used their rocket science because the class 60 the buffers do not twist!

Brian, got the ETH set,but no mounting bracket,is the one on your models made by yourself or did it definitely come with the etchings?? Thanks....... brian daniels
They are on the etch fret between the triangular pieces second row down if you click on this link to Petes site and click on the etch fret. They are square bits that need folding up. http://www.phd-design-etchings.co.uk/Products/Heljan%20Deltic%207mm/Class%2055%20Basic%20Detailing%20Set.htm

modelman14
Right,i`ve got a selection of parts now,but also another question......... Whats the best glue to use to attached the brass parts to the plastic of the loco?
flexible_coupling
Always had excellent results with http://www.supergluecorp.com/zap/zap-glues/zap-gap - the green 'Medium CA+' stuff is a little 'thick' and gives a few seconds to position. Just abide by the directions and keep it refridgerated (I'm pretty sure that particular one is the one to be kept at a consistent temperature!). modelman14
Right,i`ve finally made a start on the Deltic but can someone tell me how to remove the centre headcode panel so I can fit the etched blanking plate? I didn't want to be too rough,so I thought I would ask on here before I destroyed it!!! Thanks folks.........
