hayfield
I noticed that C&L's 2 bolt chairs differs from the Exactoscale ones, which have a square base when C&L's have the more rounded shape. I guess the C&L version is of an older style where as the Exactoscale's is a latter type. Is my guess correct and when did the change in style start please. Thanks in advance
Miss Prism
The C&L ones weren't quite correct in their dimensions.
hayfield
The C&L ones weren't quite correct in their dimensions. Thanks but they look totally different, the C&L ones look like the chairs in earlier photographs and sidings as they are round. Unless I have 3 packs wrongly described the Exactoscale chairs have square bases
Miss Prism
C&L chairs are not round.
hayfield
Perhaps it's the description, but to me being thinner and the corners being rounder, the foot looks to be round. And does match some photos I have seen
RMweb Premium Siberian Snooper Posted February 11, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 11, 2014 There is a series of photo's of GW chairs in a thread on Templot, if you do a search for GW special chairs you should find the thread. If memory serves me most of them have more or less semi circular ends. SS
Tim V
You could use the "round" chairs in sidings without problems. Unfortunately, the earlier rail is not manufactured. Don't forget that track was cascaded down, I saw inside keyed track in use in sidings in the 70s.
RMweb Gold martin_wynne Posted February 11, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 11, 2014 I noticed that C&L's 2 bolt chairs differs from the Exactoscale ones, which have a square base when C&L's have the more rounded shape Hi John, 2-bolt chairs are GWR. GWR slide chairs are rounded on the inside. Plain chairs have square corners: On plain track they are actually bolts -- inserted from below with the nuts on top. On pointwork they are chair screws, not bolts, inserted from the top. regards, Martin.

hayfield
Thanks again for the added information, looks like there were 2 sizes 7.5" & 8" standard chairs, not measured both C&L and Exactoscale chairs yet but they may have taken their data from different type or chairs
