rapidotrains
Hi guys, Our web site and email are down. Our web host has just upgraded to a new server, shown below. Supposedly this is only temporary - tomorrow they are upgrading it to the Commodore 128. Thanks, Jason

The Sinclairs weren't as big in North America. At least a Commodore 64 is a step up from a VIC-20. Adrian

RMweb Premium John M Upton Posted April 23, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 23, 2014 For me it had to be the BBC Model B 32K. Switching it on and hearing the classic "Booorrrr Beep!!!" All the computing power of a free with five gallons of petrol calculator though...
RMweb Premium BR60103 Posted April 24, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 24, 2014 About 1970, we were using IBM's service bureau for our pension valuation program. The job card required a value for time, lines out(?) and memory required and job classes were based on this. The program would stop dead if the estimates were passed. Our programmer found that Express class were jobs that ran under 3 minutes and took less than 150K. He adapted our main program to fit (well, sometimes we ran over 3 minutes for the BIG clients). peach james
It wasn't that NASA could have given the Apollo ships more memory/computing power- its that they couldn't ! There is a lot now on the internet about SAGE, which makes interesting reading... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Semi-Automatic_Ground_Environment James
