milepost46
I've been using the Gaugemaster WM1 and adapter to power a small testing layout that I can trial ideas and different products on. Last night I had a mishap with the adapter plate (this is effectively a simple rectifier circuit) when the brown coloured item burnt out suddenly. I'm presuming this is a capacitor for smoothing the DC. Can anyone help by confirming what it is and what values it has please? It would be a cheaper job to solder in a new component that buy a complete unit. I could not see the adapter plate on it's own to purchase from Gaugemaster but they do have a similar looking AC DC rectifier. thanks
RMweb Premium kevinlms Posted May 17, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 17, 2014 Have you checked the output of the WM1 with a multimeter? Its possible that you've blown the internal fuse of the transformer (making it useless & irrelevant as to whether you fix the adapter board). Unplug the adapter board for this test. milepost46
yes. the power supply is OK. Brown job has a burn mark on one side which is why it is main suspect. thanks. Gary
smokebox
I would give Gaugemaster a call/email and see what they have to say.
