RMweb Gold 96701 Posted May 24, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 24, 2014 JMRI decoder pro linked to a test track and PC with a Sprog is a great way to understand and program decoders I find that I don't actually need to understand and program decoders to enjoy playing trains with DCC. bluesparky
Thanks once again for the advice chaps. Is there anything key or significant that i should be aware of regarding the size of the decoders? I assume that in certain locos there is less wiggle room (a shunter compared to a 37 or HST for example), are there any pitfalls that I might encounter? When it comes to smaller decoders, are they usually smaller because they have fewer functions? Apologies for what may seem like simple and easy questions but I'm keen to get as much knowledge under my belt before I go blundering in! Cheers.
