Introducing our 40th Exhibition

Welcome to The Leamington & Warwick Model Railway Society’s 40th annual Model Railway Exhibition.

This is our second year on the new March date.

We remain in Hall 2 at the Stoneleigh Park venue with its excellent catering facilities in the Strollers Restaurant.

As you will have come to expect at our event there are plenty of seating areas where you can take a break and wide aisle's for your comfort as you go around the stands.

Even though we are aiming to present more stands than last year our entrance prices remain the same as last year with free parking and a free programme.

Announcing...

The dedicated bus service from Leamington Spa station which we introduced last year will again be running for both local visitors and those arriving by train.

Please take a look at our “Exhibition Venue” page on this website for full details.

We have a variety of layouts exhibiting this year again reflecting a wide range of scales and gauges.

As usual we hope to book some special features for the younger visitors.

Please see the “Exhibition Layouts” page for details.

The trade support is the backbone of our exhibition and again this year we offer a wide range of model railway related products.

Please see the “Exhibition Trade” page for full details.

Our hobby is well supported by an array of Societies, Preservation Groups and Model Railway Clubs/Societies offering specialist information relating to the real railways, past and present, as well as information on modelling itself.

Our own Society will, of course, be present.

If you would like to find out more about the LWMRS or even consider joining us please visit our Society stand. Our members will be on hand to offer information and try to answer all your questions.

And don’t miss our amazing Second Hand stall. It has gained quite a reputation over the years for offering a huge quantity of bargains which may just include that elusive item you thought you would never find.

All these are detailed on the “Special Features" page on this website.

This year, as always, many of our members have put in a lot of time and effort to help create our event.

I hope you can come along and enjoy the results of those efforts.

David Hewett, Exhibition Manager

The Leamington & Warwick Model Railway Society.

It has been brought to my attention that a layout called Buckingham is listed as attending. The list doesn't show any more details but to clear up any confusion, there must be more than one layout with that name.

The layout that most people will know of as Buckingham (as built by the late Rev. Peter Denny) is not suitable for exhibitions due to its age and the difficulties moving it and so if anybody is hoping to see it at the show I am sorry but it isn't going to be there.

I wish the "other" Buckingham and the good folk at Leamington all the best for what looks to be a cracking good show but I thought I should just clarify that small matter.

Hi Tony - thanks for pointing this out.

The layout we have at the exhibition is indeed another layout. It;s a 24' long EM gauge layout. This layout is based on Buckingham station located on the LNWR branch line between Verney Junction and Banbury and is modeled as it would have been in 1923/1924 at the time of the railway grouping.

If you want more information on it, we have quite a lot on the exhibition webpage - it looks like a rather nice layout.

This is the website http://www.lwmrs.co.uk/CMS/index.php/exhibition-2015-home .

Why does a website for a model railway exhibition want to deposit cookies on my computer?

Hi David.

I'm the person responsible for the LWMRS website, so thought I ought to respond to this question. In Summary, Andy Y is quite right.

The site is written using a content management system called Joomla. This allows people like the exhibition manager to edit articles about the exhibition without needing to understand HTML. Joomla places cookies in order to track access. This package stores several cookies - currently when I check my browser settings I can see it has stored 6.

Of these six, three delete when the browser session closes, so are only stored temporarily. These are used to control access to the member-only content of the website once a member has logged in. The other three have longer expiry dates - one of them, for example, is used to record that you have ticked the box consenting to storing cookies so that it is not displayed every time you access the site. None of them store any personal data; all that any of them stores is a key to keep track of a session. All may safely be deleted if you so wish.

As we do not have any advertising on the site, there is no use made of cookies to store any preferences of yours for provision to advertising websites or similar.

Incidentally, it has been since 26th May 2012 a legal requirement in EU countries to tell end users when cookies are stored by websites. This requirement is widely ignored, but we do not do so. I hope this indicates that we take these requirements seriously and do not abuse the use of cookies in our website.

I love the new scale "Thomas".  Will be pleased to see how Clarendon Road has come along.  Always good when the home team have something so interesting and different.

Actually several from the home team if you include member's and other club layouts, including a first showing of Richard Harper's Sidmouth, Chris Mead's Overlord, the Parker's Melbridge Dock and Owen's Bridge and LWMRS's Perkham Sidings.
