Hi Spenc,

It looks like you've got your hands full with coach builds now :)

I'm watching with interest as I'd quite like to have a go at the Easybuild 122 and perhaps the JLTRT CCT too.  The only thing that puts me off is spraying the paint scheme on the blue/ grey stock.... I'm struggling with blue and yellow ends on locos let alone anything as complex as you've done!

Please keep up with the up dates.

Cheers

Lee

Hi Lee

I don't spray paint i use brush i find it better as long as i put thin coats and build up i use acrylic paint the masking is the key to it i was recommended frog tape it gives a nice crisp line. the 121/122 kit really is a great kit to build it goes together really well.

Hi Steve,

I should have been more specific... it is the masking of the grey area that puts me off.... how on earth do you get it to exactly the right size/ dimensions for the Railtech lining?  Those white transfers/ lines are only a few mm thick so there's no room for error. You make it look so easy!!

Cheers

Lee

Hi Lee

when i did my units i masked the grey area by looking at pictures when the white lining came from Railtec it turned out i was spot on tomorrow i will measure them and put it on here.

Just a small update decided to clean the CCT bits and do a dry run as I was trimming flash of the roof ends with a nice new sharp blade in the Stanley knife slip 1.0 to the blade one rather sore finger with loads of blood.I decided to use the same bridge so it will have traffic lights at each end off scene so iam putting a foot bridge in front which I have started doing away at the weekend so no more work on it till Monday.

Whenever I cut myself with scalpel blade or chisel I usually dab some super glue on it.

Yes it stings briefly, but it holds the edges nicely together.

Then a quick wrap of masking tape over the top just keeps the dirt out.

Done it for years :)

Hi Spenc,

That is looking great and what a difference a coat of paint makes!!  What do you use as a primer?

The underframe looks quite complicated too with rather a lot of parts, how long did it take to do that bit of the kit build?

Thanks for posting.

Cheers

Hi Lee another coat of blue on and first coat of roof grey on. it was a bit fiddly putting the under floor detail on like i say the instructions where a bit hit and miss but it was not going to beat me it took me about 5 hours in total over a few nights this is what I use as a primer good stuff.

Steve.

Hi Steve...

Most impressive...You've ploughed the road and shown how nice they turn out. Ideal for my Costleigh layout so I really must get one or three for myself.
