It's a while since we had a trip around East Anglia.

 

 

170116 at Ely on 7th March 2009 with 158857 on the far left.

 

 

387121 at Ely on 29th June 2018 with what is probably a Kings Cross service.  317506 waits at Platform 3 on the left with what is probably a Liverpool Street service.

A short while ago I promised a return to Nottingham Express Transit (NET).  All photos were taken on 2nd August 2006 during a visit organised by the Railway Study Association.

 

 

Here's a view from the Wilkinson Sreet depot towards the running lines with Wilkinson Street station on the right.

 

 

And this is the view from Wilkinson Street station towards Nottingham with the depot on the left.

 

 

This is the control room in Wilkinson Street Depot.  I expect it's different now.

 

 

Highbury Vale with the branch to Phoenix Park on the right and the Robin Hood Line on the left.

 

 

This is Phoenix Park, the end of the branch.

That is a fascinating view of the control room.

 

Unless they have 'relocated', I would expect/suspect the control room to look the same except for black flat screen monitors replacing the the old CRT technologies.

I am now getting close to the end of my photographs but before i do, here's a few more of Felixstowe.

And now for something completely different.  This is the remains of the Languard Point tramway on 26th July 2019.  Shingle was dredged from the far end of this tramway and taken to a jetty for loading onto ships. 

 

 

This is the jetty as it is was on 24th July 2018.  It has been substantially rebuilt and altered since it had a rail connection and was used to load shingle.  On the day of the photograph it was being used to host the semi-final of Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year.  My wife and I had no idea this was being filmed and went to Landguard Point for a cooling sea breeze on what was the hottest day of that year.  As we approached the pods (as they are called) we passed several notices saying that if we went any further we were consenting to be filmed.  We both thought "Yeah, right" but when we watched the show later in the year, there we were full frame, admiring the artists hard at work.  They must have had hidden cameras as we had no idea we were being filmed.  The show was hosted by Stephen Mangan and Joan Bakewell who were both there and I can attest how wonderful Joan Bakewell looked for an 85 year-old.  If I am as able at that age as she was I shall be well pleased (assuming I get that far).

After a good day yesterday running my FEF3 at the G1MRA East Anglia Group's track I awoke this morning to find I had no internet connection.  All the lights were on on my router, all connections secure and even after a restart there was nothing.  So nothing wrong my end.  A phone call to my ISP followed where there was a pre-recorded message. "Restart your router every hour and by the evening all should be well."  I didn't hold out much hope but I was wrong.  After an hour I was back up and running so here's today's selection of photos, all of Ely in the Noughties.

I've just about reached the end of my photos now so here's a final trip around East Anglia, all taken in on 11th July 2015 except for the first one.

Moving on to Ipswich on the same day, this is 90014 (I think) on a Norwich working with 90010 bound for Liverpool Street.

 

 

Meanwhile in the yard is 70011.

 

 

Finally to Norwich where there's 37405 on a Great Yarmouth working.

 

 

And lastly here's an unidentified class 90 on a Liverpool Street working.

 

I hope you have enjoyed my photographs from 1963 to the present day but this is more au revoir than goodbye as I intend to post a few photographs as I take them, especially if I can do a "Then and Now" feature which I know you like.

Will be good to see any updates, I always look for things with East Anglian interest as Essex was where I grew up and lived until 2004.
