A little update....

Been up to see Lancer1027 (Rob) tonight to do a little modelling.

Checked the Parkside boxes, a bit of fettling to do on all four to fit on their chassis's.

Weight & roof gluing needed for my Slaters BR Blue BY, Primer then paint.

Model Express CCT needs buffers, then as the BY.

& wire brushed transfers off an MR van. Rob's found a pic of a van in Bauxite, in Scotland.

Pics to follow.

Steve.

Hi Steve,

Nice work on the vans. How do you rate the Model Express CCT? I was thinking of trying one or two to expand my blue parcel train.

Cheers

Hi John,

I have helped Steve build this Model Express CCT.

I think IMO that its ok but there is a lot of work to get it to look right. Plus you need to aquire quite a few bits for the underframe because all you get in the kit are two ends ( mine were resin, Steve's were white metal )and two sides etched brass. You dont get a floor but you get some whitemetal castings. I ended up virtually scratchbuilding the whole underframe including the solebar fillets.

My advice would be spend that bit extra and get a JLTRT one. The Model Express kit was £60 ( i think ) but the extra detail bits cost about £10 - £15 but it was a lot of hard work and time, where a JLTRT one could be basically built in a day. With a lot less hassle.

Hope this helps John.

Weather been crappy, so no priming yet. I spray outside, as have a full garage & no where in the house !!

So ive started something ive been meaning to do for a while now.... Making a cradle, or two (one for Lancer1027 Rob).

I saved the wooden slatts of a single bed i was getting rid of. I cut two in half, two half pieces for each cradle sides. I also used one side of a wooden shelving frame, cutting two pieces off for the bases.

Tonight i'm going to screw them together. I need to go some foam i have in the garage & add some rubber matting to the bottom, so it dont mark a table underneath.
